Mark's Class 2 Nova

Mark is a new to grasstrack racing and having bought the Nova at the last meeting of 2009, he has asked us to have a look at the noisy and very smoky engine and 2010 will be his first season of racing. The car goes well, and has all the right bits, so I think it will be a good car to learn the art of racing on grass in. His friend Nigel (Micra Man) delivered the car to us and we now have the engine out, and will strip it down and see what all the fuss is about.

Delivered to the farm by Nigel.                                                          Outside our unit ready for surgery!

Because Mark has only seen the car once since he bought it, I have put up lots of pics so he can see his pride and joy!

The new dashboard is in with new gauges and a new switch panel. Just have to tidy up the wires, set the ignition timing and the fueling, and replace a faulty battery master switch, and then we wait for the start of the season, to see how it performs......
March 21st and the newly painted Nova awaits is session with the Scrutineers,
and now with WS80 on the sides.

What an amazing transformation, I really like the new colour scheme.

Mark and Nigel have a few small items to put right, but I think the new idea of checking all the cars before the start of the season is a big step forward, and can only result in a raising of the standard of car preparation and more importantly, driver safety!
Well done Wessex Autograss Club!

South Somerset 11th April 2010
First race ever for Mark and the weather is kind to us.

Wessex Raceway 25th April 2010

Cool and dry morning with constant rain showers in the afternoon.

Mark gets a 5th in the first heat after a race long battle with friend Nigel in the Micra.
He says he's really going to go for it in the next heat, which he does and nearly spins out but still manages another 5th place, he is really getting used to the Nova and should improve each time out. Unfortunately, he did not qualify for the final.

Wessex 09th May 2010

Mark is really getting the feel of this Nova and is becoming competitive. 5th in both heats and time for more power!

We have had the car back in the workshop and tweaked the fueling and the timing
and it is now much more responsive.
Big carb conversion will be the next move!

Race day 23rd May 2010

Very hot and dusty!
Heat 1. The car is running quicker, and Mark gets 5th. The competition is fierce!
Heat 2. Mark is second, and is in the final for the first time.
Final. Mark gets 5th.

This class now has a lot of our cars running in it, and some we have helped, and the racing is excellent.

More news of Mark on the race day pages!!

First race Sunday 20th March.

2011 was a good year for Mark, who is now on the pace
but a roll over requires a re-shell for 2012.
